"Before and After the Nickelodeon" began with Magic Lanterns and continued through the First Movie Show in Arizona in 1897 and Arizona's First Movie Star - "Rattlesnake" Jack in 1898. Original Edison Projecting Kinetoscopes are on display as well as a reproduction of the projection booth from "Sherlock Jr.", 1924 with Buster Keaton. A reproduction of a Nickelodeon era ticket booth complete with flashing lights conjures the feeling of a time when Ragtime music was the rage.
"The Roaring Twenties and Movie Palaces" included a 1929 Western Electric Universal Base projector like was used to show "The Jazz Singer" and other early Warner Bros. sound-on-disc talkies. To represent the WWII Newsreels and our Veterans, there were a number of still pictures of the Last 8 Apache Scouts and Black Soldiers of the 25th Infantry at Ft Huachuca from a newsreel taken in 1942. There were also scenes from the 1945 Sells Papago Rodeo when returning Veterans were Honored in a "V for Victory" formation.
Called "Television, Drive-ins and the Computer" was planned to bring the viewer up to the present and feature artifacts from the AHS "Walace and Ladmo" television show collection and the drive-in era.
